Mailbox Installation Cost in Memphis: What Is Included?

Mailbox design example for planning; not a verified Memphis customer project

By Mailbox Bros Memphis · Updated

For a Memphis mailbox project, compare the installed total rather than the price of the box alone. Mailbox Bros currently lists standard professional installation labor at $350 and optional standard post-and-box removal at $75. The selected mailbox, post package, and upgrades are additional unless the product is sold as an on-site masonry build. These are our published charges, not an average for every installer in Shelby County.

Three ways a project is priced

  • Customer-supplied mailbox: standard installation labor is $350. Confirm that your kit includes a compatible post, mounting parts, and fasteners before scheduling.
  • A mailbox from our catalog: combine the displayed product price with standard installation labor and selected extras. Review what the particular product package includes.
  • A catalog brick or stone build: its listed build price already includes materials, footing, and the on-site build. The standard $350 installation charge is not added again. Selected extras or nonstandard conditions can still affect the total.

Example totals without hidden assumptions

If you already own a complete compatible post-and-box kit, $350 labor plus $75 standard removal equals $425 before any other applicable charges or discounts. That example does not include the money you spent buying the kit. If a selected catalog mailbox costs $500, adding $350 installation and $75 standard removal produces a $925 example subtotal. The $500 product price is illustrative; use the actual selected product price at checkout.

A masonry project needs a different comparison. Start with the listed build or written custom quote, then check address upgrades, demolition, and site work. Adding a general labor allowance to a price that already includes construction would overstate the job. Conversely, comparing a bare product price with an installed build understates it.

What can change the estimate?

  • An oversized concrete footing, brick-column demolition, or restricted access instead of standard post removal.
  • Missing parts in a customer-supplied kit, an incompatible mount, or a post that cannot be reused.
  • Custom plaque text, selected metal numbers, a specialty finish, or a made-to-order design.
  • A change in placement, surrounding pavement work, or other work outside a standard installation scope.

The same style can need different work at two Memphis properties. A straightforward replacement at an accessible curb is different from removing a large base beside a driveway. Send a wide photo and close views of the base so the estimate can identify those differences. Ask what happens if concealed conditions are discovered after removal starts.

Compare quotes line by line

Ask each installer to identify the box and post model, installation, removal and disposal, number options, and excluded work. Confirm any applicable taxes, fees, or discounts in the final order summary. Do not assume a quoted appointment includes an unavailable special-order product or an unapproved HOA design.

For a written Memphis estimate, include your address, the product link or preferred style, and photos of the existing setup. If you are in Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Lakeland, or Arlington, include the municipality and ZIP code as well. The best next step is a defined scope you can compare, rather than a citywide price range that says little about your property.
